Two manual therapy techniques for management of lumbar radiculopathy: a randomized clinical trial

چکیده
Abstract Context Evidence has shown that spinal mobilization with leg movement (SMWLM) and progressive inhibition of neuromuscular structures (PINS) are individually effective in the management lumbar radiculopathy. However, previous evidence reported data for only a short-term study period did not investigate effect combined manual therapy techniques. Objectives To compare effects two techniques (SMWLM PINS) individual alone or individuals Methods A total 60 patients diagnosed unilateral radiculopathy secondary to disc herniation were randomly allocated into three groups: 20 participants each SMWLM, PINS, SMWLM + PINS groups. Each group attended treatments per week 30 min each, months. Participants assessed at baseline, immediately posttreatment, then three, six, nine months follow-up using Visual Analog Scale (VAS), Rolland-Morris Disability Questionnaire (RMDQ), Sciatica Bothersomeness Index (SBI). Results Between-groups analyses two-way repeated-measures analysis variance indicated significant interactions between groups times all outcomes (p=0.001). receiving treatment experienced greater improvement pain, back disability, sciatica timelines (immediately follow-up) than (p<0.05). showed better Conclusions protocol LR this study.

Manual therapy, exercise, and traction for patients with cervical radiculopathy: a randomized clinical trial.
BACKGROUND To date, optimal strategies for the management of patients with cervical radiculopathy remain elusive. Preliminary evidence suggests that a multimodal treatment program consisting of manual therapy, exercise, and cervical traction may result in positive outcomes for patients with cervical radiculopathy. However, limited evidence exists to support the use of mechanical cervical tracti...
متن کاملManual therapy in the treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome in diabetic patients: A randomized clinical trial
Background: Generally, conservative interventions including physiotherapy modalities and manual therapy have been recommended in the management of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), but this subject has not been studied in diabetic patients with CTS. Therefore the aim of this study was to investigate the effects of manual therapy on diabetic patients with CTS. Methods: Thirty diabetic patients with...
متن کاملOral steroids for acute radiculopathy due to a herniated lumbar disk: a randomized clinical trial.
IMPORTANCE Oral steroids are commonly used to treat acute sciatica due to a herniated disk but have not been evaluated in an appropriately powered clinical trial. OBJECTIVE To determine if oral prednisone is more effective than placebo in improving function and pain among patients with acute sciatica. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical tr...
متن کاملLow-Level Laser Therapy Versus Electrical Stimulation for the Management of Acute Bell\'s Palsy: A Randomized Clinical Trial
Purpose: Electrotherapy is a common intervention for the rehabilitation of Bell’s palsy. Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) and electrical stimulation (ES) are two therapeutic interventions for Bell’s palsy that have been proven to be superior to conventional treatments. To date, no clinical trial has compared the effectiveness of these two interventions. This pilot study aims to compare the effect...
